Why do people think this is a valid argument? Lore should service gameplay, not the other way around. You're basically just saying "This game takes place in a world before fun"

As someone excited for Legends I think it is fair to want the infrastructure of a more modern Pokemon setting, in fact that would be my #1 request for a sequel. Despite this, i’m still interested in capturing and studying Pokemon in a 3D world.

literally who gives a shit if it'll be filled with different kinda of content instead? PLA is practically a spinoff being made to introduce certain things to the mainline formula, more than likely as a springboard and as a test of reception. It explicitly doesn't make sense with the setting, so they're doing other things to take their place.

What variety? The only difference between a gym/trainer battle and wild pokemon battle is sometimes trainers have more than 1 pokemon. Elite 4 and battle facilites I can understand because the format is different but there's no difference between normal battles.

Every single Pokemon trailer to date has had trailer battles in them. We've had 2 gameplay reveals for Legends and we haven't seen a single opposing trainer, not even just walking around.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are trainer battles at the end, but it's clearly not the main content. The main content or the game is exploring and catching pokemon. That's it.

Legends: Arceus isn’t meant to be a multiplayer experience or adhere to the standard formula. It’s meant to shake things up and see what the audience likes or dislikes.

That being said, I totally understand what you mean about the setting, even if I don’t share the same concern about it. It’s okay if this title isn’t your cup of tea.

It's such a missed opportunity though. Imagine having a rival team that's catching Pokemon for militaristic reasons, while your base is catching them for research. Imagine roaming enemy trainers battling Pokemon, and you can approach them and battle the trainer for your chance to "save" the pokemon.

I'm still holding out hope that the twist is you're catching all these Pokemon for Team notGalatic to do evil things, and the second half of the game is you battling them while they use various pokemon you caught for them.

Sadly all that can be said about this game is, you catch Pokemon. There isn't even cool base building mechanics. I get they're shaking things up, but that usually means you have to wow the audience instead of underwhelm them so they can accept your new vision.

Many many people will be wowed that they can catch and battle Pokemon in a 3D world. This has never been done before. A game can always be more awesome, and in fact I want a lot more out of the sequel, but this game? It’s cool enough as it is.

It will be cool for the first bidoof but the novelty will wear off by the 10th bidoof. Then the player will start asking "why am I even catching all these Pokemon?" and gamefreak's only answer is "to check off a box"

I think you will be surprised at how many people do not feel the same way you do about videogames. Pokemon fans are already adjusted to some level of grind (be it levels or pictures in snap or whatever), and this game will have its own incentives that work for many players and continue the novelty of a real Pokemon adventure.

The grind usually leads to something though. Competitive PVP, a battle facility, something. There is no real incentive to grind in this game, at least nothing we've seen so far.

There is still half a year before release. They aren't going to dump all of the info about the gameplay on the first "big" trailer. They have barely gotten into the battling system, the stat system, or what mechanics make "boss" battles harder than regular wild pokemon. How about you wait 4 more months and then re-evaluate if this game is for you.
