I didn't care about the gambling that much but he's the issue: they had blank canvas and twice now they decided to fill it with NOTHING. BDSP will likely do the same thing. Keep in mind that video games typically have more and more content with times compare Super Star Ultra with the original. They are charging full sixty dollars and they refused to let you play the Pikachu Surfboard game. They could fill that blank canvas with ANYTHING. A TCG simulating using an old format. Pinball. Any new minigame. Hell they could have just put in a the Rom for Pokémon Pinball or TCG gameboy game into Let's go in one guy's afternoon but they outright refused. That's just artistic and creative bankruptcy and while in the grand scheme of things it's no big deal the main game is what matters... symbolically it's everything.
