Unironically that is regarded as a boring and self-contentious period in art which was followed by a period where most artist where taking influence on the same art you're making fun of and other "exotic" cultures, the painting version of "play a million notes for 3 people, play 3 chords for a million". You can say you don't like the particular way this game borrows elements from it but going as far to say it doesn't is disingenuous, Okami isn't 100% ukiyo-e since it has impressionist architecture as seen in the way those roofs are portrayed
