The thing is, Pokémon is a very popular franchise where everyone has its favourite and can talk about how cool they are, share fanarts and all these stuff. That's comfy and wholesome. But things become darker when your favourite is hated. This wholesomeness turns into hatred, jokes in poor taste, and in the worst scenarios there are people who insults people who likes these Pokémon. This is not the environment a man with depression needs.
However I'm happy if someone can enjoy the franchise with everyone else. That's how things must be after all. As for me, I have always been advised to stay away from Pokémon. I like the series, but it's not good for my mental health.
I'm not talking about fucking a Pokémon at all. I'm talking about having a Pokémon as my favourite and be able to enjoy it with everyone, like OP can enjoy his Ivysaur and
