also you can't argue about the maps, it's noticeable to anyone who has played gen 1-6 7 the map got way smaller, and extremely linear then gen 8 it was unbearable even in the zone that was supposed to be free movement holy shit what a fucking let down.
The game has never been too hard but if you want to make a memorable map, then you need to put puzzles in which are challenging. think of silph co, i still have that shit memorized same with pokemon clover, the second time through i had most the puzzles memorized because you actually had to take time to learn them and that's something which simply doesn't get said about pokemon anymore. back in the day people needed to buy a fucking guide book to tell them which corridors led where in victory road, now all that shit is online and even if it wasn't you wouldn't need it to begin with because you'd have to be brain dead to fail.
