It was still a step down from the last remake and if you combine that fact with the downward trend these games in general have taken, it was easy to see DP remakes would be shit and anyone with a brain didn't want them while the franchise was in its current state. The least they could've done for ORAS is the Battle Frontier instead if that janky teaser thing they had. I mean they straight out removed some of the features from the originals and Emerald so other than the gen 6 updates to the battle system it's got less features.

Personally, I enjoyed ORAS and the Delta episode but straight out removing features that a large chunk of players enjoyed because "Peoples attention is split on so many games" is a cop out. Instead of being passive and doing the bare minimum because of competition they should be trying to meet the challenge head on. They're one of the biggest IPs in the world and they can't even bother to at least keep the features from older versions of the same games? The fuck kind of shit is that?

Voltorb flip sucked dick, but I'd have forgiven it if they had given us the option to buy out tokens like with the game corner. I much prefer farming the elite 4 for money over playing minigames or gambling. Voltorb flip was only in the international version, by the way. Japan still had the game corner.

Every other point is spot on though.

These discussions always show blatantly which poster are not actually old enough to have played each game.
HGSS was a massive remodelling of 2nd Gen. it added a ton of features, freshed up the story and updated the game to the standards of its Gen. They were quite literally the perfect remake. I actually don't dislike ORAS, which was fine but obviously inferior as remakes.
BDSP looks like it will be even MORE of a downgrade which is just unacceptable.

I don’t disagree HGSS is far above ORAS, but some of these points are flimsy/misleading

-HGSS also removed elements from third game, namely unique encounters for things like Phanpy, Sneasel, etc.
-Honestly not sure why removal of Safari Zone mechanics is considered a bad thing if the area and Pokemon are still there, it’s just unnecessary RNG
-ORAS didn’t add new routes but it did have new areas with the Mirage islands, completely revamped some areas like Sea Mauville
rest is all fair

I was with you until the newest trailer. The distribution in the underground and following Pokemon are pretty big points.
All that really will decide it is if BDSP has the same open world segment that DP has. It would be ironic if the one thing they took from Platinum was the linearity.
