>>47975581Even with a massive revision to stats, slow Pokemon will ALWAYS be at a disadvantage. Let's say the speed difference is so significant that the fast Pokemon gets three turns and the slow Pokemon gets one. And let's say my fast Pokemon knows Thunder Wave, Reflect, Double Team and an attack. The fast Pokemon can paralyze, half their damage and make themselves harder to hit all before the slow Pokemon ever gets to attack. And let's be kind to the slow Pokemon, it manages to attack and it does 80% to the fast Pokemon. Okay. Well now the first Pokemon gets three more turns where it can attack (And remember all of these have a chance of getting a critical hit) And we'll consider that the slow Pokemon is so defensive that 3 hits only did 55% damage to it. Okay. Well this turn it's paralyzed. Now the first Pokemon gets three more attacks and they finish it off without even needing a crit.
I'm sure they'll have some changes made to try and make that scenario less egregious, but it's still going to be there. Unless you think they're going to remove status effects, stat buffs, critical hits etc. from the game entirely, but let's not kid ourselves. The only way this can work is by making slow Pokemon so oppressively defensive that doing all that is completely necessary for the fast Pokemon to even beat them, which means it would be impossible to beat them WITHOUT doing it.
