Throughout the entire game she gives you literally nothing of significance despite the beginning of the game treating her like the professor, and then the player is somehow expected to act like it's a big deal when she passes down her coat to Sonia after doing literally fucking nothing the whole game.
>HopHe has literally no real drive. There's no dynamic with Leon because of him living in his brother's shadow because he doesn't hold any resentment towards him. He acts like it's a big deal when he gets cucked out of being champion but flips to being a professor at the flip of a hat, but there's nothing in the game to support the fact that he even really gives a shit about all the different Pokemon. He's a glorified punching bag with less personality and lore than fucking Trevor from the autism squad in Gen 6.
>LillieShe, like most of the Gen 7 cast, are far too one-note and tropey to even seem like believable characters. She pulls a 180 after the events at Aether but at that point the game has progressed far too long for you to reasonably give a shit because she never had any significant moments during the beginning of the game. All of her spotlight and character development was given to Nebby instead which makes her whole "I'm going to be brave now!" even more ludicrous when it becomes painfully obvious that she's been traveling with a legendary. Gladion does her dynamic so much better with Null that it's not even funny and it just ends up making Lillie look irrelevant. You could completely erase Lillie from the story and give Nebby to Gladion and Alola's story would be 100% more engaging because it would actually make you wonder what the fuck was his deal from the first cutscene until the first time you meet him.

Overall, Gen 6 had better story and characters.
