>>47990132I doubt it, Pokemon's fanbase is pretty locked in at this point. RGB sold the way they did because Pokemon was a cultural phenomenon at the time. It's not like the games after that were inherently worse. By rights Gen 2 is just Gen 1 but better in almost every way. The games sell what they sell because despite the series in general being absurdly popular the games have relatively niche appeal by comparison, which is why the sales numbers are always so similar. If anything is going to bump the numbers anything close to Gen 1 levels it would be adding more mass appeal to the games, which Legends seems to be doing with the more open world-esque design, but the game is a bit too experimental to assume it'll sell that well. I could definitely see this being the first step in that direction, though.

The number of people who genuinely care about graphics enough to not buy the games if it doesn't mean their standards is extremely small. Nintendo hasn't given a shit about graphical fidelity since the Gamecube, and Pokemon is no exception.
