Again, I like this. Heck, I actually PREFER it. Pokemon felt like an actual sport when you're going up against other sportsmen in a tournament. Besides, all Elite Fours have a habit of repeating the same types of characters & Pokemon types. Like, what is the difference between Will & Lucian? They're basically the same character.

They were all champion contenders/e4 level from the beginning. They were using purposely weaker nerfed teams to give new trainers a chance to gain badges and qualify

Gym leader does not mean weak .

Did you miss Sun/Moon where half the Elite Four was 2 kahunas, a trial captain, and a girl you had the option of meeting previously? And in in Ultra Hala was preplaced with Molayne that you'd also met previously.

To be fair, most of the Elite Four are entirely forgettable characters that literally only appear at the end of the game.

At least this way you kind of get a rematch for the leaders since they're trying to prove that they're the best. And later on when they team up you can try different strategies too.

I actually don't mind it being done in the style it was honestly, made Galar's league feel unique. They probably shouldn't keep this format, but it was nice here.

After you beat the postgame story you get their rare league cards are can invite a specific trainer to take part in the rematch tournament. However, that trainer may lose and might not battle you even if you invite them. Leon's card you get by winning in the Battle Tower and you have to beat Marnie in Spikemuth to get hers.
