Assuming Gen 9 isn't next year's holiday season release, SWSH will probably be updated with all the Pokemon from BDSP and PLA.

Absolute best case scenario in a perfect world? SwSh is updated to include new mons/other previous mons that were not available but will be available now.

Worst case going forward: Games will continuously launch with a smaller selection of Pokemon to encourage different battle strategies and tactics depending on the generation. Where a few teams of Pokemon may reign supreme for a bit, they may get BTFO in the next gen selection.

Alternatively, it's possible that BDSP could create its own Gen 4-ish Meta which would be kind of interesting especially if Pokemon eventually recognizes it.

GF will announce Pokemon Spear as a third-version companion to SWSH that is compatible with the new mons via Pokemon Home. Either that or the new mons will be locked to PLA only. They can justify this because muh timeskip.
