Assuming I actually end up buying it, I'm going Pearl.

It was one of my first Pokemon games (I got the DS and GBA Pokemon games around the same time) and I'll always remember it fondly for that, even if Platinum ended up being the definitive version of Sinnoh for me.

If I got it, I'd get Pearl.
Palkia > Dialga, Mr. Mime > Sudowoodo, Glameow > Stunky, Pinsir > Scyther. Diamond has the Seel line, which is one of my favorites, but I also really like the Slowpoke line.

Actually, Dialga > Palkia, Sudowoodo > Mr. Mime, Stunky > Glameow and Scyther > Pinsir. And I feel completely ambivalent about both those lines.

I was thinking of playing Pearl, because when I was younger, the US versions released earlier than EU versions. And a store was selling the last single Pearl version by itself, and I got it.

Hell I don't think I'm capable of doing my main quest in Brilliant Diamond.
Pearl is one of the few games I own with the original save, with around 500 hours there

Might actually just ask for friends to trade me the version exclusives I like

I have enough for both but i'll only buy diamond and legends, i don't see any point in buying the double pack now, the day the game releases just go to wifi general and ask an anon with the other version to give you an egg of whatever pokemon your version doesn't have

I'm choosing Diamond. I never experienced the original Diamond, got Pearl on release date and later experienced Sinnoh with Plat. I'm going to choose brown Dawn, name her Diamond, and give her the Winter Outfit so she can look like a new protagonist.

Depends on which one my spouse gets me, if they'll get it for me.
There's a chance I'll get them as a late birthday present (my birthday being one month and four days before BDSP's release date), a friend of mine implied it'd be possible.
Diamond was the one I played back in the day (ran it on an emulator), so it should be an easy choice, but I'm very indecisive (absolutely not getting both, though).
