This is the literally the only mega evolution that looks alright and it should’ve simply been toned down and made a regular evolution. What were they thinking?

Nah there are some other good ones. The worst ones are the ones like Garchomp's or Tyranitar's which only add more spikes and useless design aspects to them. I also hate how Charizard got two megas; it just makes the game too convoluted, specially after adding dynamaxing.

I honestly think both versions are some of the better looking megas, but it just irks me a bit knowing that Charizard has three alternate forms, two of which are unusable. They should really just polish either mechanic instead of adding new ones which replace the past ones and will later become unusable.

There's a few mega evolutions that would be better as just evolutions, but the majority of mega evolutions are unnecessary and overdesigned.

Mega Tyranitar goes from Godzilla to Space Godzilla, it's based. Garchomp's sucks though, no denying that.

Personally I think the only Megas that could actually be evolutions are these few

Lopunny
Manectric
Banette
Mawile

If given slight colour changes from base you wouldn't even think twice

I like megas but a lot of the designs just sucked. Comprehensive list of the good mega designs-

-Mega Kangaskhan
-Mega Pinsir
-Mega Alakazam
-Mega Mawile
-Mega Sableye
-Mega Medicham

The rest range from downgrades to lateral moves, these are the ones that contribute something unique enough where I miss them now that the mechanic’s gone

Mega Kangaskhan is just Kangaskhan with the baby out. All the other Pokémon listed except Alakazam could have easily gotten evolutions.

Don’t disagree, I”m just saying that these are the designs that were worth something in general, whether for a direct evo, alternate evo, regional form or whatever. Kang is unique in that it would be pretty dumb as an evolution but works well as a mega, but whatever I like the concept
