soo long story short I didn't do any research before picking up Sword and now I can't get my favorite fire pokemon until AFTER beating the whole game! If anyone with shield would like to trade one of their Growlithe's to me I would be so so so grateful!!

Vulpix replaces Growlithe in the early routes but once you get the first 3 badges go to Hammerlocke Hills and you should be able to find a Growlithe, maybe only if it's sunny though I forgot.

Yeah I double checked,in Sword, Growlithe appears in the Dusty Bowl and in Hammerlocke Hills only when it's sunny. You can technically go to those areas now, but it'd be too high level to catch. Once you get 3 Gym Badges you'll be able to catch it though, for the Dusty Bowl it's an overworld encounter and for Hammerlocke Hills it's an exclamation mark encounter. I don't have my switch rn so I can't just trade it to you unfortunately.

Endgame is lv. 60, by the time you get your 5th badge, you can catch pokémon up to Lv. 45 in the Wild Area.

i am not a shil lol... i'm genuinely having alot of fun playing sword so far. I just quit playing mmo's and this has been a great relaxing alternative for me

You don't need to beat Kabu. Growlithe in Hammerlocke Hills caps at level 30 so you can get it after beating Nessa. You also having the bike by this point. There's zero reason to wait longer than that.nophh
