Are the graphics bad because of James Turner?

Since James Turner became art director in swsh, pokemon has been suffering low resolution texture, low fps and ugly trees. The same is now happening with legends Arceus where he is probably the art director again.

No, the graphics are bad because GameFreak knows the sheep will lap it up anyway just for having the Pokemon logo on the box, so they literally, actually, do not have to try.
And "controversy" is just free advertising and unironically generates additional sales, because the shills are so dedicated to sucking Pokemon's corporate cock that they'll buy extra copies to "spite" people who don't.

I think the poor graphics stem more from GFs own shitty optimisation combined with Nintendo pushing them to rush out a new game every year, rather than an art director purposely deciding, 'yeah, dated and low resolution looks good, actually'.

Do you have a single fact to back that up? It seems more like a thing the producer does, given Ishihara and Masuda's insistence on the release schedule compared to Nintendo's usual "delay it until it's ready" thing (with some major exceptions that help re-enforce this mindset). Nintendo is pretty stringent with the budgets though, that doesn't help matters.

And I see a game released every calendar year and an apparent decline in quality and features.

Perhaps there is something else going on. But I am not privy to that. If Game Freak know what the actual problem is perhaps they can enlighten us.

Or better yet, fix it.

Well there was DLC, but you are right about no full game being released last year. I would argue PLA the game developed for this year, simply delayed into early next year. I am happy to concede that yes, there was no full game last year or this year though.

But how have release schedules and development times looked the past few years, culminating with SwSh? How do you feel the quality of the series has been holding up?

Absolutely right. And I am well aware of that.

I wonder whether those franchises have the same pressures the Pokemon series does, though. Do they have anime series, manga series, card games, toy lines, a range of other mobile and video games from other developers alongside a whole swath of every type of merchandise imaginable, all cued up to coincide with the date set by Nintendo for each main series release? Are they also the centre of the largest multimedia franchise on Earth?

I wonder if that would change how flexible Nintendo could be with release dates for new games in each respective series.
