When I was a kid who got their hands on AdvanceMap, I'd always edit the towns to my liking and would add starters and Legendaries to every city, and make NPCs behave weirdly, and litter the towns with lots of grass and other shitty tiles. Maybe I can't let go, but I do miss it when romhacks were more of a silly pastime than ambitious creative projects.

Actually speaking of Gen 3 hack videos, I vividly remember this series I saw parts of but not the whole thing. It was this guy with the Red sprite and he had this rage power. At one point they took on Team Aqua. The series had its opening with like 8 friends or something. I remember this one joke I found funny at the time, the Red guy had died and he met an old guy in a black void and he asked “are you my father” and the guy said something like “no retard, I’m your grandfather.” Been looking for this series for ages but haven’t found it again

I played a lot of rom hacks in 2000s but they were all either broken or unfinished. The one that wasn't is Dark Future, I still have fond memories of playing it.
