Chimchar. Lack of good fire types in base DP and the selection isn't significantly better in Platinum, deals with 4/8 gyms, only weak to 1 gym.

Oh yeah, because earthquake spamming is so hard, right? You have one tiny area where there are actually ice trainers, and if you actually play the game and not just overlevel your starters, you'll be able to use one of the many types that just absolutely destroy ice.

He's only four points slower than Empoleon, but the lack of steel typing will mean that he gets hit normally by most types. Not that it really matters considering you have 5 other pokemon that you just switch to when you see what your opponent is going to use.

youre arguing for points I havent even made. I've only made the initial point that torterra's low speed and subsequent weakness chart which includes the 4x ice weakness helps in adding some difficulty to the game (no, spamming earthquake is not an argument), compared to say an infernape who could sweep any AI team without having to switch out by simply using close combat stab + fire move stab + earthquake + coverage move. Sounds like you never even played the original games before. Again, take your meds before posting

Okay, but the problem with Infernape doesn't exist if you're using a full team anyways. Unless your other five pokemon are some of the worst shitmon ever, you're going to have a counter for anything that comes up. And why isn't the point about Torterra having one of the best moves in the game valid, when you can just list off the pros to Infernape like it's nothing. You do know he gets rock slide too, right?
