Intellion evolving is bullshit but Intellion was pretty cool and suave and has a cool voice. Its clear the writers don't care about quality for this anime so the fast pace is justified as long the episode is entertaining which it was.

People were saying if Serena and May returned it would be Eevee related. Guess that theory is dead now, Its obvious Koharu will keep Eevee unevolved, there's no reason for it to evolve since it would lose its charm plus Eevee itself has a gigantimax.

Holy hell lmao. I mean, I still prefer Drizzile (who had cute scenes this episode), but I can understand now why so many Japanese women love Inteleon. Kecleon developing a crush on him definitely feels like a reference to that. The episode certainly made me like Inteleon more than before.

Looking at nip fujos live tweeting the episode, they're gushing over Inteleon too.

The anime is no longer focused on one region like in the past. This new format means that when gen 9 is here the current anime style can still continue. It depends on if TPCi will stick with this style or return to focusing on one region for the anime

Might as well explain al the "ASAW" posting lately. My reason behind it is primarily because I saw so much hate for the XY anime during the Sun & Moon era, which badly affected me in a mental and emotional way. That's why I get so defensive whenever Serena gets hate even now, even if XY discussion is feasible and other Serena fans don't really care that much about her getting hate as they used to.

I can verify that I was around for the SM and I pretty much saw some of the XY hate and same for other sites. The problem was that the way I browsed them looked like XY and Serena were getting more of the hate on my end. And it kinda affected me because even if I've been watching since 1999 with the dub first, I got the fandom buzz around mid 2014. Anyway, I hope that one anon's right about all the XY/Serena hate being feasible.

That’s not to say Dawn’s Contest arc. was bland but outside of that and her losing story Dawn’s rivals, personality I remember got panned a lot for being just pretty much “there” a lot of episodes. Like Ash if there wasn’t someone like Ursula or Paul around to bring out some fire she was just??? Doesn’t help her team was super stagnant too. Buneary/Pachiris and Cynda were were unremarkable.

Not really? People meme about the coordinators being copies but May changed as a character, had way more personal and confrontation rivalries, generally wasn’t as “sterilized” as Dawn usually was in regular episodes, and her team and captures were pretty good with not getting bland.

It was a common complaint back in 2009-2010 on bulbagarden/serebii that Dawn's character was getting stagnant outside her Contests. I remember it since I was there at the time, you younger fans probably don't remember what was going on in the forums back then.

I do feel some of Dawn's later contest losses (the one she had to Kenny and to James disguised as Jessie) really did feel like they were trying to pad out her quest from ending too soon before Ash's Gyms did.

Losing to Kenny especially was pointless since she never re-battles him after that if I remember right, since he fails out of the GF appeal round and I don't think they ever battle outside of it.

The weird thing about Go's capturing sprees, is sometimes the writers will have him capture 2-3 pokemon per episode (like in the Alola ep), and then in other eps he captures nothing at all or goes a span without getting anything. Next week it doesn't seem like he'll get anything since those Johto pokemon don't seem wild, but who knows.

You have to license the seiyuu's likeness/pay royalties to use their voice in the dub. It's cheaper to redub the Pokemon, even if they have the same name. Pikachu is an exception, but if they could get away with it, they would. This applies to the OST as well and we all know why that's never kept.

My autistic interpretation is that each Galar starter is meant to represent a different "growth" for Gou. For example, Raboot -> Cinderace is Gou going from a loner to being more outgoing. And Drizzile -> Inteleon is Gou becoming more emotionally stronger (his "I'm not gonna cry!" emphasizes this). If I had to guess, Thwackey will be overconfident and not listen to Go's orders -> Rillaboom, who is still confident, but is willing to listen to others, which can represent Go becoming more receptive to people and Pokémon.

That's actually a good question. I wonder if the anime Inteleon will still be able to use his tongue to attack and the like. I know they tend to go for lazy and superficial representation, but i always thought it'd be cool to see it used as a kind of Grappling Hook, and that would fit the Spy theme too. I doubt it because some might find the tongue gross, and unfitting on Inteleon But on the other hand, i think Inteleon's intended audience would love it

I see a lot of posts online with people saying Grookey is very annoying or the worst gag Pokemon on the show. Am I the only one who finds that strange? Grookey has been very fun in the anime so far and even in generic episodes it doesn't do anything that's bothersome.
