You could say that they're a more detailed representation of Pokemon and I suppose you would be correct, but then there's an argument to be made that this extra detail is unnecessary and drew out game development for the worse, leaving the Kalos region unfinished.
But in reality, they're so different that most everything about the conversation is subjective.
They also both ultimately pale in comparison to Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum/HGSS Pokemon representations in order from greatest to least.
