Flannery is literally the only female fire type gym leader for starters. Her only other competition is Malva, a fire type elite four. Some big reasons why Flannery beats Malva outright is that she has red hair and that her hair looks more firey, a staple stereotyping theming a lot of gym leaders have with their respective types. Every other prominent fire type user is a dude. Blaine, Flint, Chili, Kiawe, and Kabu greatly outnumber Flannery. Against other fire type trainers…the only other notable thing is Courtney, and it’s a stretch to call her a fire type trainer even though she’s from team magma. But Flannery still beats her outright. Courtney is cute, but Flannery is hot. There is literally nobody notable from Team Flare to compete with Flannery (Malva is an elite four first) and it’s already another stretch to consider them fire type trainers.
If they ever make up another new female fire type gym leader or fire type elite four member, THEN she will have more competition. But for now Flannery is the fire type queen.
If you put a gun to my head and ask me who is the best male fire type trainer, I’d say Flint despite his shitty team in a shitty gen for fire types because of his afro. You don’t see many afros.
