>>48058677Pretty much this. Its obvious that 90% of the criticisms are just trolls fishing for (yous) or SwShil's scapegoating Johto to deflect from how bad SwSh was.
They say that Johto relies on Kanto even though Kanto's pretty much just a boss rush and some extra land to train in.
They complain about a few Johto Pokemon being in Kanto even though if there weren't in Kanto would be even more barren than it already is.
Even the "Kanto being barren" complaint doesn't work because Kanto being in the game at all was a gift. That's like complaining that the extra chicken nugget you got is shaped weird.
They say that Johto is too easy when all Pokemon games are easy and unlike Gen 1, Gen 2 gym leaders at least have a strategy outside of spamming x-items. And Gen 2 leader have enough common sense to not try and knock out a Zubat by using agility.
They say Johto is too small as if a chintzy hand-held from the late 90's should be expected to have even half as much space as the consoles of today.
They say Johto had no identity because many Pokemon are related to Kanto which means by that logic Sinnoh is a barren joke since like over half that dex is just evolutions and babies for earlier mons.
They say there is no place to grind when the SS Aqua is pretty much an EXP farm 4 days of the week
They even have the audacity to accuse Johto of "Kanto Pandering" when Kanto being in the game at all was a fucking secret.
The sad part is there are flaws. The plot is lackluster at best, the level curve of wild Pokemon makes it hard to add new ones to your team, like half of the game is locked behind Mystery Gift (this is how your would get evo stones before Kanto), and Johto Pokemon absolute need to get buffs. But for the most part most people shitting on the game are either low attention span who can't cope with having to earn things in game, or just zoomies parroting Merrick and PokemonChallenges. (remember they unironically didn't know the Whitney had a fucking Miltank).
