>>48059899This is probably shitpost thread, but lets actually discuss, what are the reasons you dislike friendly rivals? And what would improve them for you without making them rude?
Personally I feel like a Rival should push you to do better, but a lot of the friendly rivals don't feel like rivals, I feel like they can be friendly without being to happy, like maybe they should be more head strong, a little playful trash talk, like the character is my friend but that won't make them not try and curb stomp you.
Also winning Rival fights should be allowed, if I manage to lose I feel like I should keep those failures with me until I fight them again, make every battle count, and maybe slight changes to the text if they beat you a overwhelming amount, they get a bit cocky from it.
I feel like that would make them feel more like a rival if they did some of this.
