HGSS fixed most of the problems GSC had and added a lot of soul to them.

HGSS ruined all of what made GSC special and removed a lot of soul from them.

Except that these games actually induced the player to explore because they still had open maps and not hallways like SWSH where you already have a preassigned path.
Add also a good level of difficulty, then you can say that these games aren't children games at all.
