Unova's environments looked really good, I didn't like how the Pokemon Centers and other buildings looked like a pixellated mess. I also hated the animation when you walked into a door and it slowly zoomed in and faded to the interior.

I 100% agree. The incorporation of sprites into 3D environments like in Gen 4 and 5 really went the extra mile in making the world look vibrant and alive. It's a shame they cut back on it in Gen 6.

The franchise would be doing just fine if they stuck with the gen 6 visuals. GF would've been able to improve on top of it and perfected it to be as comfy as gen 4.

That being said, DS-era textures were generally drawn with pixel art techniques (large areas of solid color, minimal blurring, etc.) to avoid aliasing, so they visually read as a sort of 'psuedo-2d' (good enough to fool >>48074024 at least)
