I was really confused as a kid as I thought you needed to evolve Remoraid into Mantine, was shocked when Octillery popped up. I get it makes little sense but at least Mantine actually relates to Remoraid.

Looking at all three together it makes perfect sense though. Trumbeak is a phenomenally forgettable pokemon, but it does it's job well connecting the other members of it's line together.
Plus, their species are part of the same order in the real world as others have pointed out.

That's it. That's literally all you need to do. Let's be honest however if you don't notice the cannon inspiration for it it's just going to look boring. They should have gave it more features that make it look less like a 1-1 of an actual toucan.
