I could personally use some help planning a Platinum team. I have 5 members chosen but need a 6th out of what's left in that group below the team.

I second Hippowdon. You have two members weak to electric and Hippowdon's two weaknesses are resisted by two pokemon each on your team. Empoleon is also steel type, meaning you have another member who won't be hurt by its sand stream. Hippowdon is also decently bulky in terms of physical defense, which looks like it could be useful for your team. Great picks for the first 5.

hippo or dash would be good since you need a way to fuck with steels
