Politoex is my favorite Pokemon. It should be the only pokemon to have drizzle (even Kyogre shouldn't have it, only Politoed), rain should never go away and every other weather effect should fail if it's active, all of its moves should be 83637x buffed in rain, and it should always go first and never miss. It deserves it.

Back in gen 5 I ran a mono-poison team for shits and giggles. I remember that I'd usually just bring in Toxicroak and set up against Politoed. People would usually end up saccing Politoed because they assumed a poison team wouldn't have any way to turn off perma-rain. Then their whole strategy falls apart because they didn't foresee Hail Tentacruel.

Honestly wasn't amazing and I don't remember if rain was prominent in Gen 5's 2 VGC years. It was good in Gen 6, but once Pelliper got drizzle in Gen 7, Politoed kinda became obselete because Pelipper also learned Hurricane, and tailwind which is one of the most important moves in doubles. It saw a decent resurgence in the meta after IoA was released but I haven't played regularly since then.
