>>48092429This is the only gen that actually felt like a sequel. Everything felt better and more improved from blue and red and it felt like a progression or continuation from the original games. Everything since has basically been a reboot or rehash of the established formula.
And if you weren't there for the initial wave of brand new pokemon you'll never really know how exciting it was to see new pokemon beyond the original 151 we had known. Now we know and expect new pokemon every couple of years so its really not a big deal.
