Anything before Gen 3 is a fucking slog to play for me. Problem is, all Gen 3-based hacks nowadays have to add Megas and other shitty-ass gimmicks, which I also hate
I don't mind the addition of Fairy-Type, PS-Split. or even Regional Forms. I just fucking hate Megas and Z-Moves and shit

Polished crystal is pretty good i could understand you not liking prisim if thats the case though. I don't think i've ever played a decent gen 3 hack aside from clover and i dont think thats what youre looking for so i really have no idea.

Altered Emerald is a decent choice if you're like me and you just wanna play Emerald again but with more stuff
The route and Pokémon changes can be hit and miss, though
Weird stuff like Eggsecute getting Schooling is an understandable turnoff for a lot of people

Prism is open source, removing the meme types would take like an hour and a half max. Most of that would be deciding what to replace the Gas-type moves with.
