>>48095265My first Pokemon game growing up was Fire Red. Absolutely adored it. I've come, over the years, to appreciate every gen. Each gen has its gimmicks/appeals and its new wave of Pokemon designs and moves. You can have a favorite gen--that's absolutely fine (I personally don't have one). The issue that stems from people shitting on Johto is its defenders saying, "Objectively best gen."
Everything creative is subjective. If a human made it, a human can like or dislike it. The more Johto lovers say that it's #1, the more people will want to shut them up by retaliating that it's garbage. That can be said for any generation of games.
There CAN be a #1 gen for number of single-stage 'mons. There CAN be a #1 gen for number of trainers. There CANNOT be a #1 overarching best gen. Saying so would only further stimulate argument and hatred towards one another. Can't we all just be happy with what we're happy about? I mean Johto fucking sucks in my eyes, but I at least have the common courtesy to appreciate it and those who love it.
