>>48103059The thing about people with diseases or deformities is that they tend to find people exhibiting similar problems and thus form communities. Blind or deaf people for instance often don't view their deformity as really a bad thing, they view it as an entry key to the blind or deaf community.
So this creates a deformity "identity" if you will, and for trans people they've created a significant community out of their shared trans identity. Because of its inherent connections to the gay community, yet another 'identity' culture which has slowly but surely been amassing political power and members for the past couple of decades, it has a lot of support and thus wants to propagate the trans identity as a form of political and cultural power.
The problems of course come when this intersects with common interests of certain political parties. American Democrats for instance have largely adopted left-leaning identity politics ever since LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act, so you'll see the Republican Party try to undermine interests of trans and gay people as they're not the constituents and they won't let Republicans get in power to do other things, like help their sponsors/lobbyists/whomever that pay them in return. That's where trans people find issue. Of course, Democrats are equally if not more guilty of more nonsense, but that's another point altogether.
