Is Pokemon figuratively dying? There is nothing exciting happening for the brand. I think gen 9 would have to be something really special to stand out. No, Legends is not impressive.

They have to undo the dex cut, integrate the good parts of Legends (more open-ended world, overworld Pokemon, size scaling, better animations,) and put actual effort into making a proper RPG to revive the series.

Definitely. If this were any other franchise legends would be causing massive fanfare but even after 2 trailers and even new pokemon nobody seems to actually give a shit. What we're seeing right now is probably the repercussion of Dexit. Wouldn't be surprised if both BDSP and Legends reach record lows for the franchise in terms of sales.

People dont play pokemon because it is an jrpg (muh hm, muh i hate duneons, muh zubat, too much water etc), but for the monsters, that's why the brand became full normie with xy (fewer new mons, kanto pandering, petting and feeding your pokemon, no hard battles etc). And that's a shame, since dragon quest is more similar to pokemon (open areas) than an open world game like botw.
