>>48114319Contests were shit, at least in the anime. The Gen 3 anime contests were extremely awful with how repetitive and bullshit the appeals were.
>Wow, a pokemon used 2 attacks to make the same of explosion sparkles for the 100th time! Totally worth the runtime and animation!Gen 4 anime's contests were an improvement since they way more creative and balanced by having pokemon create special structures or pull off more uniquely trained stunts, but they still suffered from a lot of bullshit that was infuriating to watch. Anime contests were stupidly formatted too because the final rounds consisted of pokemon battles where whoever's pokemon gets knocked out is the loser no matter the performance points.
Also, the Gen 6 anime's performance contests were absolutely abysmal and all around worse than Gen 3/4's contests since whoever had the most generic japanese pop idol appearance won. Uniqueness was actually discouraged in them.
