This was always the case ever since Gamefreak went their new route with the Switch, no Pokemon game will ever have all of them.

Platinum's improvements of QoL are in the game and added on to even more with customization, better available Pokemon, and following Pokemon.
Add on to that the grand underground which is a welcome addition to justify the upgrade.
The only thing I can see Platinum doing better is post-game but we really need to see what other features we have.
If BDSP improves the Poketch, allows refights like Platinum and continues to add more cool things, I can see it try to rival Platinum.
If BDSP can somehow find good enough incentive that makes the Battle Frontier loss not a big deal, then I think it'll be fine.
I still don't see it being better but the best case scenario would at least be BDSP's new features vs Battle Frontiner and that's it.
