Not sure what to call it but here is a terrible gimmick.
Each side can "steal" a move from the opposing side using it for themselves instead as well as draining all the pp of that move on the original pokemon. The move picked is entirely random and while it can be done multiple times each pokemon can only be affected by it once. This ensures when done properly every pokemon can is only working with 3 rather than 4 moves.
To make it extra awful, pokemon cannot be switched out when targeted by this effect.

Fusion is too much effort for something that they're required to give to every Pokemon.
The only way they can make it happen is if they take the DQM approach of making the primary Pokemon get bigger or maybe shift hues to better resemble the secondary Pokemon in color, but if they do that, they'll never hear the end of it for being lazy fucks.

That's a little different than something like Z-moves or Dynamax which are explicitly stated to be exclusive to one region, will never be brought outside of that region, and were only created with the sole purpose of giving that region something unique because they were that deprived of ideas.
Also, Megas don't change moves and are more nuanced than the blanket buffs that the gimmicks provide. Z-moves and Dynamax are just glorified nuke buttons, and the button part is all they really have in common, which could easily be said about other things like the Wonder Launcher or Rotation battles as well.

They got overdue do to being first big gimmick but the dex entries in SM clearly warn they want to delete them asap

Expanding the lore of a feature in a way that wasn't even included in its gen of introduction is a sign they want to delete them?
This is your brain on copium. The gimmicks have lore that explicitly prevents them from being expanded in later entries, how does this make them comparable again?

It wasn't established until SM did the first one with Z-Moves, and a trend began with SWSH doing the same shit with a different skin.
The burden of proof is more on the retards trying to conflate them. Megas were established in Kanto and Unova before X and Y were even out, I don't understand why there are suddenly zoomers trying to say they were always some sort of Kalos thing.
Not all gimmicks are regional but all regional gimmicks are bad. If they didn't go back on the fuckery with character customization in Gen 7 then it would have been a bad feature in X and Y as well.

I've been on this board since Gen III, kid. There isn't a single person that is the same that doesn't recognize that Megas were a Gen VI gimmick, kid.
Remember Sycamore? He literally says himself how it's a thing found only in the Kalos region. That only got changed when ORAS retconned it and no amount of your whining will change that. Wait for your XY remakes in 2033.

I think he means the genesect movie, where mewtwo mega evolves. The movie came out in japan on 13th of July 2013. X Y came out worldwide in october of the same year. But even then we knew megas existed from XY trailers

I guess the x and y anime and super mystery dungeon also wanted to can mega evolutions during gen 6 too then. It’s just the trope where the super form makes the user go apeshit and you need a strong bond/ intense training or whatever to control it. X and Y itself probably just ignored that part last minute so every kid could get their free mega and steamroll shit since side material kept the concept.

going off this page I'd rather have them take a note off the tcg and do tag teams instead. It'd work similar to calyrex, so like say if you combine pikachu and charizard you get pikachu riding on charizard's back while they become a fire/electric type
