Piplup is an annoying piece of walking garbage that the show constantly goes out of the way to grant plot armor to. It can summon giant 3DCG whirlpools out of midair to instantly win any fight matchup, and you will see this attack fallen back on endlessly through the series. Every gag with Piplup is a waste of time that just makes you hate it, even if you liked the line previously. The only thing worse than Piplup is Piplup's owner, and you'll often hear her screeching at it, rightfully so, but it still is just terrible to watch as a viewer. Piplup manages to make Max look good as a traveling companion by comparison.
