There's actually a decent chunk of unique stuff in Infinite Fusion that isn't Kanto. There's Orange/Sevil islands and Johto. Even the Kanto is spiced up a little because it actually does stuff with the 'fusing pokemon' plot. Pic related. Plus you can randomize the game so you're not dealing with the usual 150.

Sour Crystal is more vanilla, it doesn't add new Pokemon, moves, etc. though base stats, movepools and move properties are updated to gen 8, and ghost and dark are swapped between special and physical. It expands Kanto and adds the Cianwood routes and cliff cave (but nothing else from HGSS). And it has reusable TMs and other QoL like pic related

It's a bit of a task hunting for the Roms with specifically what you want, especially with the prevalence of newer folks who want to add everything up to gen 7 to the game (I get why, but damn is that a rough note to see in an otherwise promising hack). Granted, I mostly just don't want to dedicate the brain space to learning gen 7+8 mons (stopped playing mainline games in gen 6), so I may just the odd man out there.

I agree with the amount. I don't need 900 Pokemon in the game. I can deal with what's there, I just wanted the trade evolutions gone and better distribution.

To sate my autism, I made a mod where every DV is treated as 15 during stat calculation. Gender, Hidden Power damage/type, and shininess are unaffected.
I also changed the stats screen to put the most relevant information on the front page.

Might be compatible with previous save files? You'd probably need to deposit and withdraw your whole party to get their stats to update. I'm not sure.

If Pokemon had an alignment system what would law stand for?
Neutral would obviously be keeping things how they are while Chaos would be might = right and the collapse of Society.
Law could either be Pokémon genocide or possibly Pokémon liberation? I can't decide.

Someone mentioned this earlier but if you put the room in a map editor then you can add in Pokemon where you want and how rare you want them to be. I believe you can find it on poke immunity or in the other room hack thread on the site

No. You just pick the rom you want to then you can edit the different maps in it. I did it to this rom that was essentially just crystal version in gen 3 graphics

You won't be able to use a typical hacking program for an edited rom, because the values the program is looking for are likely to have been moved.
But the hack is open source, so there's no need for any of that. What exactly did you want?

Yes. I managed to find a different program and was able to modify the wild encounters. Assuming I didn't fuck anything up I replaced a handful of pokemon on route 29 and 30 with the starters. Added Mew in Mt. Silver. Let's see if this works.

Unfortunately as it's a really old game it probably has a scripting error the creator never bothered to fix.
What exactly is the issue? Did you not just get sent to Pallet Town after beating the E4 like in normal Fire Red?

I'm trying to find a way for law to sound appealing. From a political point the law faction would be trying to persuade people that pokemon are too dangerous to be used, especially for kids. They would preach peace for humanity in a world without Pokémon fighting eachother. Their hush hush plan would then be to gather up and exterminate all Pokémon so that they can never be misused by humans again.
How would I get someone to unironically pick that route though lol.

Law I think is done best when its proponents are technically right, but go about achieving their goals in the most heavyhanded and brutal way. Like in SMT4 the Law ending does indeed eradicate suffering from the world but you do at the cost of your own life and murdering an entire city.

Personally I'd have the player alignment be decided by choices they make ingame or via sidequests, like doing the right thing at the cost of others gets you law points (say putting a rampaging Gyarados into a coma or turning over a crook who just wants out of the poaching business to the police).

You could then justify the law path in story by showing that, I don't know, Pokemon are actually continuously evolving a very real chance of wiping out civilization within a few decades. Or that Pokemon consume too much of the environment and resources for humanity to survive. Depends on what your story is I guess, but the point is that you have to justify it in some metric other than "crazy guy said its real therefore it is" a la Cyrus or Lysandre.

There's also This Gym of Mine, which I haven't looked at for ages to see if it's updated, but it was previously incomplete and had bugs, but let you set up a gym with any type you wanted.

Checking now, it seems to be 2.0, which is a big leap from the 1.1 that I had before. No idea what the changes are though, I'll have to get back to you.

That's what the plan was for alignment decisions. I like the idea of Pokemon presenting a real threat to humanity if left unchecked. I also want the law faction to mostly use steel types and robot-esque pokemon.
Also i'm not sure if it's possible but I would really like to have dialogue choice appear mid battle that give a stat boost or decrease to the enemy depending on your choice like in SMTIV.

A lot of mons have custom sprites, so sometimes you get the dumpy shit that's made by the fusion algorithm (like Venomoth/Flygon) but you'll also just get shit like this

Are there any good hacks like Crystal Clear but for other gens? It doesn't have to be as comprehensive, just stuff that removes a lot of the shitty roadblocks and doesn't do much else, preferably for emerald or DPPt.

ROWE is pretty much what you're looking for. Enhanced Emerald too but the game is quite a bit more than just "Emerald but open world" arguably to a fault
No such hack exists for Platinum but Renegade Platinum removes all HM obstacles in the game except for Surf/Waterfall
You can try Fire Red Redux/Roaming Red too

Do you know the Gen 3 script command for making a drop down menu of different options show up? Or is that something exclusive to CFRU? I am working on a script where an NPC gives the player a bunch of Pokemon based on their answer to a question.

At first, I was going to have each of the four different selections compressed into individual Poke Ball person events on a table. But unless all four Poke Balls are right next to each other, the table looks awkward and cluttered and not really immersive. I could always use a Professor Oak like table, but I don't want to resort to that just yet. I'd rather have them all be tethered to one person event, that way the player can select which set of Pokemon they want from a drop down menu.

By drop down menu, I mean the thing that comes up that's usually YES/NO. I'm basically asking if there's a way to customize that without applying the CFRU. I don't have issues with that, but everyone says you're supposed to put the CFRU in last. So I'd rather not do anything that relies on it until I'm finished.

Unbound works, surprisingly. I had to install a custom fork of gbarunner2 that adds the ability to run "hiscript" which essentially means addended scripts that exceed what the original games could actually execute. nothing stands out. the overall plot may seem a bit far-fetched but i don't really care that much since no pokemon game (official or hack) ever had a good story

also feel free to ask anything else about unbound. i finished clover long ago and just cleared unbound's e4 a few days ago, and there's quite a few features added in that's common in both games. not sure which game influenced which though

Nost if Unbound's difficulty isn't too unfair, and there are difficutly options available. There are some annoyinggimmicks like the Normal type gym which fights inverse battles, meaning they have almost no weaknesses

did you download the program from that link? it should look like pic related.
for the patch, open the .xdelta file you downloaded from the google drive link. and for "Source File" open the SoulSilver rom. for "Output File" select a folder where the patched rom will go.

I'd like to play a randomizer nuzlocke in frlg/emerald in a hack with gen 7 or 8 pokemon, that doesn't have balance changes. I found one hack of fire fed that claimed to do so which was a buggy mess that crashed all the time and had weird shit like skarmory evolving to Magmar. I don't mind romhacks and a lot of them DO put a lot of effort into QoL and sprite enhancements and stuff but MAN am I TIRED of playing through the game again and again in the same route.

How about a game where instead of going to Oldale and turning left to Petalburg maybe you go up and there's a path over the water to Mauville? I know that's going to require maybe story changes and sequence changes but i'm just kind of bored.

Mates I'm having an extremely hard time remembering a romhack I used to play back in...I don't know, pre 2014-2015ish...
The only things I remember is that it was a gen 3 hack and that in the very late game or post-game, there was a Celebi related quest or side-quest that involved some sort of faded polaroid and I think an Arceus clone fakemon or something like that... I think I remember the game being pretty discussed but I can't seem to find any info regarding any of the above
I'm grasping extreme straws but I remember having a lot of fun with the game and wanted to give it a try after so many years. If anyone has even the slightest clue of what the fuck I'm schizo-rambling I'll be very thankfull

Was the clover champ supposed to be hard? I know I saw a lot of people complaints about it but I was underwhelmed.

From what i know there arent that many gen 5 romhacks. A well known one is drayano's blaze black/voltwhite which is pretty good . However there are a few issues with it, like how all gym leaders have 6 mons and also there is a fair bit of grinding before the 3rd and 6th gym, atleast for me. But it does have every pokemon available as well as a few improvements to shitmons/shitmoves

The Magmortar's trainer (redhead guy) is actually a decent guy who joined the evil team to surpass his brother but didn't want to actually kill anyone and he says as much like 10 minutes after this cutscene, yet he decides to kill the Medicham in that moment anyway.
Never mind anyway the reason why the redhead guy is there in the first place is to build a machine to make the volcano they're on erupt and kill everybody in a town below, which makes his random as fuck "nah I'm actually a good guy lmao" shit later even more confusing.

Just make another fakemon. It's fine if you splice parts of mons because you're not good at sprite art, but it never looks good when you use someone else's fakemon. And the colors aren't great, the yellow should be brighter on the first mon and the green shouldn't be as dark on the second mon.

There are plenty of resources, you could probably find a lot of pixel art tutorials on /agdg/, get some good reference material on /ic/, and read up on color theory from tons of places all over the internet. But the easiest way is just to look at sprites you like and try to understand what brings them to life. For example, even basic techniques like light dithering could help give your snakemon a scaly texture.

Not that Anon but the 'difficulty' can get jarring at times. Sometimes it's good enough to be an enjoyable challenge but other times it's frustrating because all his games will periodically throw a super juiced sweepers that can oneshot and outspeed your entire team that has TMs and tutor moves that you yourself won't get for several gyms. I found myself hitting gigantic walls (usually gyms) and having to switch out half my team to take them on. I never got the point of buffing up shitmons when you still need to stack your team with the typical 'powerful' mons by the Elite 4. Either that or grossly over level them.

I will, however, give him praise for always having good documentation and the fact that almost all the Action Reply codes for the vanilla games work as intended.

Also you can really easily bring stuff like Furret or Wigglytuff or Mawile to endgame thanks to the buffs, that's why they're there. You can choose to use Garchomp or Salamance or whatever as well but the point of the buffs is to make everything at least viable and fun to use

Best Gen 3 enhancement hack imo is Altered Emerald by a landslide.

Altered is more creative, Inclement is more technically impressive
Altered makes using any of the Pokemon in the game a ton of fun thanks to all the crazy updates, Inclement has more Pokemon overall to catch while still making any of them viable
Altered's side areas are more fleshed out and feel like great new extensions of Hoenn, Inclement's side areas reduce route bloat and make having 700+ pokemon in the game feel fairly natural
Altered's difficulty is great if you want something along the lines of BW2 Challenge/USUM but harder, Inclement has adjustable difficulty modes to suit your preference
All comes down to what you value more

Ten minutes after starting the postgame youget the in-game equivalent of an injector, it makes building entire teams ridicolously easy. It's an intentional design choice made to make you want to tackle the postgame with an all new team, or even more

That said, don't worry about the postgame when you're not even through victory road. Hope you're having fun tho

Delta emerald seems pretty neat.
All of ORAS features in it, Except dexnav.
My Teams so far is Mawile, Seviper and Slugma. I want to see how mega's work so I wanted to use Mawile just for that, along with the fact I never used it before.
Hopefully the end game is all intact, revamped or just updated a little.
Makes it funny to think if that is the case ORAS is an inferior version of this.

Its more as a preparation for the next episode, I was aiming for max coverage in each team, I guess reuniculus isn't as important to the team now that fairy types does the job of killing fighting types, while ground types deal with poison

Dragon's Den is an absolutely monstrous field for the final gym (which may or may not be at the end of another gauntlet) and the E4 seems to be Bug(maybe, who knows the field)/Normal (Holy)/Flying (Mountain)/Grass(maybe, with Flower Field) with possibly Psychic champion (Starlight) and maybe the Outer Space field for the final evil team confrontation so if you want to plan maybe try to figure something around that

I'm playing it now, it has gens 1-4, fairy and lots of HM checks removed (HMs barely even matter until climbing coronet/victory road).
Its hard at first, but it gives you so many options that you end up quickly breaking the game around the third badge/daycare unlock.

iirc rock smash, cut, defog, and strength (except for the distortion world puzzle) checks are completely removed. surf, fly, (no shit) rock climb, and waterfall are untouched, however.

Any fangame out there that made you give a damn about the story/characters?

So far I found Ashen Frost and later versions of Rejuvenation to be pretty interesting.

Ashen Frost combines Phoenix Wright style cases with some surprisingly challenging gameplay.

Almost embarrassed to admit I kind of enjoy Rejuvenation's clusterfuck of a story if only for the characters involved.

While I finished the latest version of Reborn I can probably count the number of characters I managed to tolerate on one hand.
