Ironically, it's the incessant kanto nostalgiabaiting that's the only thing keeping this series alive. But that kanto baiting only goes as far as the region and marketing, not the monster designs. The people buying Pokemon games now are 20 or 30 year old reddit liberals who FREAKIN LOVE KANTOOOO and don't mind the shit designs because liberals think ugliness is real beauty anyway.
The lack of young fans means that this series was going to begin to decline any year now, although the coming great depression is gonna handle all that anyway when people don't have disposae income for toys.
