>>48154069Not that anon, but it's not every starter from gen 5 onward; or at most, the starters from gen 5 onward don't always fall into that specific category despite being humanoid or themed around an archetype.
For example, since you did bring him up, Greninja is indeed a Job Mon, but the species doesn't actually have a defined, pre-set personality. None of Greninja's dex entries describe it as a character or how it acts and feels emotionally; it just says it does cool ninja shit when it fights and that's it. Greninja also has an actually interesting origin behind it's design that's deeper than job "job+animal", because he's essentially the Pokemon version of Jiraiya, a famous mythical ninja that could transform into a frog/toad and is the reason why frogs and toads are associated with ninjas in Japan. He's much more comparable to, say, Infernape rather than Cinderace: they're both based off of mythical eastern characters with an animal motif (monkeys and frogs/toads) but keep this to an inspiration to make a fictional monster around rather than transplanting an entire personality and pre-defined character into it. Their dex entries are even extremely similar in structure; talking about their fighting style and swift movements with no mention to a personality.
For their part, Delphox and Chesnaught also have no defined personalities (the former's dex talks about how it uses it's psychic powers to make fire or see the future while the latter says Chesnaught can flip a tank by rushing it and can easily shrug off bomb blasts), and while they too take inspiration from some human characteristics, they have enough of a concept behind them and their own identity to stand out (Delphox is a Kitsune, but also an Oracle, and Chesnaught is a knight thats also a chipmunk/chestnut hybrid or something; look they can't all be winners).
Starter Pokemon who took inspiration from human professions and myths AND had concrete, pre-defined personalities only started with Alola
