>>48143567X/Y just had a more interesting story and campaign. Gen 6 in general also runs much smoother since menus and the overworld are 60fps, and the dips in battles are usually due to extreme cases with weather or the 3D on but it's nice that they put gameplay first over graphics in a turn based game since we get a total of 5 modes out of it as opposed to Gen 7's 3. Kalos as a region feels very organic and gave an equal amount of respect to every generation, yeah the Kanto references are the most blatant but having actually been alive to play it after Gen 5 it was refreshing and the concept of getting A 2nd starter was something that Alola should have expanded on by giving you the Johto starters. X/Y's team composition is also generally much better than anything that came after which is what surprised me the most since I remember it being baby-tier mind numbingly easy, but upon looking through the code with the EXP share off most of X/Y's trainers have specifically curated IVs and movesets that are designed to be challenging for what's available to the player at that point without them having transferred anything in the game.
Compare that to USUM where the region is very restrictive, expends its own identity in order to mention Kanto at every turn, and only has a couple of boss fights that are even remotely challenging like Lurantis or Necrozma but you can only feign to call them a real challenge because you're literally handed the tools to beat them right before it's time to fight every time. Totems are the only thing I can think of that USUM has over XY, every other aspect in the gameplay and content department is completely eclipsed by Kalos which is just baffling because X/Y was already mediocre and disappointing coming from Gen 5 where everything just hit all the right notes.
>>48143579That's not what I mean. I seriously can't think of a single thing that USUM does better than XY.
