Probably played through Gen 2 games eight or nine times in my life, and I've found one (ONE) shiny in the wild in that entire span.

What/how many have you found?

I have a Gold cartridge I've had for over 3-4 years and not found a single Shiny. Even after grinding at Mt. Silver every few days (trying to get my team to Level 100, or as close as possible), still nothing. Playing through Crystal right now, so hopefully I'll have better luck this run. Congrats on the Sneasel though, that's a sick ass Shiny, especially with the Gen 2 pallete. Is it in GS or Crystal?

I've pkayed each gen 4-7 game probably 4 times, and other gens a few also, but have only ever seen 1 shiny that was completely random, a Wurmple in Omega Ruby a few months ago.

In the past 20 days I got 3 random shinies and pokerus while playing platinum and pearl. You all have terrible luck

On my Crystal this week. Wasn't hunting but I've had probably like 3500-4000 wild encounters in this file alone, which is much much more than usual for me. Otherwise I also got a random shiny Ponyta in Pearl. Technically got a shiny Weedle on a FRLG rom once but it was sped up/a rom so I don't count it, but it happened right at the beginning. I don't count shinies after like Gen 5.

When I was little I had pokemon gold and didn't know too much about pokemon then. I bought a dratini from the game corner and it ended up being a shiny dratini. I just thought he was cool and sparkly until he evolved into dragonite. sadly he didnt survive as the battery for the cartridge died.

I've found a few, one in 2 in Platinum while grinding, 1 in X/Y in a horde battle (wasn't trying to get a shiny and it died lol) and two in gen 8 by complete accident, they just ran into me in the overworld. I only managed to catch one of them cos the other exploded.

My policy is if it isn't a future member of my party, I KO it. I only ever ran into a shiny in Gen 6 and Gen 4. The others. I haven't been so lucky. I don't play Gen 8.

In silver I found a shiny pidgy just after getting the pokeballs didn't even know about shiny pokemon it just did a weird thing when I encounted it then noticed it was a slightly different shade of brown.

I’ve only ever had two shinies in Gen 2.
A Geodude and a Dunsparce, both from dark cave and within about an hour of each other.
I never found the regular dunsparce I was looking for.

I found a few shinies in Gen 2 as a kid:
>Donphan at Mt. Silver
>Shellder from fishing at Olivine pier
>Koffing at Burned Tower
>Squirtle from breeding with a shiny Ditto
>Wigglytuff from Odd Egg in Crystal
Also I’ve found shiny Zubat and Tentacool more than once across multiple Gens. I think I found them in Gen 2, but I know I found them both in Gen 3 multiple times, and I found Tentacool again in Gen 6.

ive seen one shiny ever that was on official hardware. purple sharpedo in ruby on the route next to mauville. unfortunately i was 7-8 and all i remembered was surfing and getting glitch pokemon in cinnabar and ruining my game so i just shut my game off to not lose my progress somehow.

I know I played through Silver, Ruby, and Leaf Green more than once, but I think Crystal and my other games still have my original save files. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have restarted a game with a shiny on it unless I transferred it to another game or Pokémon Box first. I’ve also found other shinies in Gens 5 and 6. I caught a shiny Litwick and Vullaby on a pirated copy of Black, and I found a shiny Growlithe in the friend safari on Y (as well as the Tentacool while surfing). I also found another shiny Growlithe on a pirated copy of Let’s Go Pikachu, but it got away before I could catch it.

Did you replaced the battery to be able to save? I have two copies of Silver and one of Crystal and i can't save in all of them, i don't want to play on an emulator how i can save without replacing the battery?

I got a Poliwhirl and Luvdisc through chainfishing in X, but the first truly random shiny I found was a Gastrodon in Sun. Meanwhile, I've gotten Pokerus three times, including Crystal VC, despite it being way less common than finding a shiny.

I hunt so I have a lot, but even outside of hunting I've found a few random. Random tentacool and trapinch in Sapphire when I was a kid (didn't have balls so never caught them) random pidgey and rhyhorn in fire red (caught the rhyhorn but sister reset my save file) and a random cascoon in omega ruby, which is the only one I still have

You can grab an egg from daycare, ride to Goldenrod department store, walk to the escalator and hold up with a penny coin. Eggs hatch in 40 minutes or so and have 1/64 shiny rate

In gen 2, parents have a high chance of passing DVs down to the child. With a guaranteed shiny, it's easy to make more. Or you can trade it to gen 1 and use a glitch to catch a Ditto with shiny DVs.
