Defensively. It’s a bad type defensively. Offensively it’s amazing. Problem is, your average ice type is not able to take advantage of the good offense ice type has. So in an attempt to rectify this issue, a buff either in the direction of defense or more speed is necessary to make it as balanced as other types.

The existence quadruple damage invalidates some pokemon. Super effective damage should be additive instead to balance out the insane multiplier damage increase, like super effective damage should just be +100% damage, and stab even should be +50%
New damage calculations are
>Stab super effective damage now does 250% instead of 300%
>double super effective now does 300% instead of 400%
>Stab Double super effective now does 350% instead of 600 fucking %
It's well too easy to one shot some pokemon

This is a true statement.
Game Freak just needs to make more offensive Ice types and less defensive ones.
If you've noticed. Every offensive Ice type is at worst a niche pick, while the only defensive Ice type even worth picking is Avalugg, and it's still niche.

Lapras, Aurorus, and Avalugg are viable. Regice is good in gen 3 and got fucked over by the split.

Ice just needs better mons. The type is fine. Better mons and restrict ice beam distribution. This shit worked for dragon type despite being a very mediocre nu-normal type, because the mons were good.

There are more defensive Ice-type Pokémon than there are offensive Ice-type Pokémon. The majority outnumbers the minority.
