Kinda sucks that a galar character is paired with kanto, but atleast the game shows that the champion has a bond with their ace which is cool.

In a meta sense I feel like he's meant to represent players from RBY who grew up so his Charizard is representative of those games. The thing is its been so long the metaphor of him being a player who grew up with older games could've easily worked with Hoenn or Sinnoh games.
