Because at this point there's so many Ground Moves with exceptional effects to hit Flying/Levitating Pokemon that GameFreak doesn't want Ground to lose its identity, which really goes to show how badly they've missed the point of their own goddamn type.

Because Flying-Type Pokémon are resistant to Ground-Type energy, which is what a Bonemerang is made of.

There is never any energy involved in a Bonemerang. It's just the Pokemon throwing a bone. Furthermore, the "bone" moves have been shown hitting Flying types on multiple occassions, so they aren't immune.

Because then you’d have a reason to use it instead of Earthquake which is also more accurate. They really should make certain moves more unique like that though. Ground types don’t affect flying except for bonemerang. It would give you not only a reason to use the attack but also to use Marowak.

It's an official source, that means it's canon. Bonemerang is just Cubone/Marowak throwing their bone. There is no energy.

Ngl tho, because of the Brock Onyx sprinkler issue, I still think it’s be cool if rain dance let electric attacks hit ground types. Maybe not for normal effect tho. Not very effective would be accepted imo

That's the logic behind Flying being immune to moves like Earthquake and Dig, but it doesn't work with projectile attacks like Bonemerang or Mud Bomb, which is all canon media ignores it and has those moves work normally against fliers.

This actually does make sense, because it's right in the name; Shadow Bone. It's a bone with purple Ghost-type energy infused into it. No such thing happens with the other "bone" moves though.

Nope, the anime's the most canon media that even the games bow down to it. It's constantly overseen by both GameFreak and TPC to best ensure it depicts the Pokemon world in its most ideal form.
