Will Pokemon stay in the Top 5 Switch games until the switch dies?

No.48188312 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
The First Set of a new generation of Pokemon games for a new console is usually the best selling set of games, and Pokemon Sword and Shield are currently the 5th best selling Switch games (June 30th 2021).
The top 6 are:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
37.08 million

Animal Crossing: New Horizons
33.89 million

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
24.77 million

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
23.20 million

Pokémon Sword and Shield
21.85 million

Super Mario Odyssey
21.40 million

You may notice that the Pokemons sale figures are closer to Mario odysseys than to BotWs numbers. And while Pokemon Sword and Shield were the fastest selling games, their record was broken by animal crossing a few month later. Its debateable that corona inflated the salesnumber for Animal crossing, but it STILL sells WAY more games, even after many People of the Animal crossing community claiming the games to be „dead“ due to the lack of updates and things to do in the game. Pokemon Sword is also usually at the bottom of the top 30 in the switch charts, while animal crossing only rarely leaves the top 10 (note however that this apparently only covers sword, and not shield).

With all these things in mind, do you think that

1.Pokemon will still be in the top 5 when a new nintendo console (not updated switch models) comes out? If yes which games/generation?

2.Pokemon will be outsold by newer games, like botw2, Metroid dread or other yet unannounced games (or by older games that might get a boost in sale if their sequels come out, like a potential Mario odyssey 2)

3.Pokemon Sword and Shield will get a big boost when the new games come out?

4.Pokemon legends will outsell The DP remakes?

5.The controverys around gen8 (Dexcut, graphics and similar stuff) had an overall positive or negative impact on sales?
