>>48230332Game suffers a lot from fake difficulty, in that it has no problem throwing full teams of maxed EV/IV mons at you around the midgame mark with no other way to fight back other than just abusing weird AI, setup, or rebuilding your team with mons that can win. Victory Road is particularly painful and annoying since literally every trainer is like this on top of the game throwing obnoxious traps and ambushes at you beforehand and afterward which slows the pace to an intensely shitty crawl.
It's also incredibly linear and there's barely any side content before postgame other than talking to out of the way NPCs with their lolsorandumb Internetz humor. Game doesn't really reward you for re exploring old areas, there's some stuff like sections of midgame routes cordoned off by Surf and a boss/legendary or two but nothing like a new dungeon or area you can go to.
Post-game does actually fix most of this but then comes new problems, such as the utterly fucked pacing, the plot becoming incredibly cringey and try hard out of nowhere, blatantly unfinished shit, a grinding facility that still probably takes too long to actually use, and a whole bunch of new Pokemon which easily could've and should've been included well before then and which the game doesn't give you any real incentive to use beyond stuff like the new pseudo and/or utterly broken nonsense like Chromox.
Honestly most people on /vp/ are probably very underage and do actually find the lazy references like le heckin angry video game nerd funny which is why they like the game, otherwise you're probably better off playing something else
