Main thing it oras has going for it is the split, but I just been playing emerald romhack for that, oras doesn't feel to special, it didn't change much and what was changed was getting a legendary pokemon early in the game, because.
Bases were cool and added in pretty well.
PSS is always good and SM/USUM made the mistake of changing something perfect, dex nav is nice.
Like it's a region full of water but it's the same as it was before, why not more sunken ships? or add more interesting diving spots.
The problem is that it didn't add enough, so people find less reason to play it over anyrom hack with qol.

Meanwhile ORAS has way more pokemon, Dexnav, reusable TMs, super training, amie, Delta Episode, etc.

ORAS isn't better in every single way, but it's absolutely at least on par with Emerald as a sidegrade if not very arguably better overall.

I unironically believe this. I like ORAS.
I like that they made Magma and Aqua more distinct, I like all the small little features and access to all the pokemon I like and it‘s Hoenn with the Phys/Spe Split. Sure, I miss the battle frontier but it‘s atleast a sidegrade and not a downgrade from emerald.

kek no. They are technologically superior, but play worse because they incorporate post-Gen 3 mechanics that slow the game down. They also look like ass compared to GSC, which were some of the best-looking GameBoy Color titles.

How is this not true? The only thing Emerald has was the Fronter stuff, otherwise, ORAS is just better. Better towns, camps and with all the QoL since Emerald came out. Frontier didn't make the game.

I played every single generation up to 5 as it came out, and I can say with the utmost confidence that HGSS and FRLG are leaps and bounds better than the originals. Gen 1 is a buggy, unplayable trash pile that looks like ass and plays even worse, gen 2 is better than gen 1 but still has a lot of half-baked mechanics and lacks a lot of the improvements gen 3 and beyond added.

Of course, even I think LGPE are better games than FRLG and RBYG. They capture the wonder and fun of playing a pokemon adventure for the first time, before the franchise got poisoned by smogon and other competitive bullshit where pokemon went from being cool or cute animal things you caught because you liked them or to catch em all to being a big math equation.

You're one of those stupid zoomers, or you haven't played RBY/GSC in a while. I tried playing Red and it was awful, I literally stopped after brock because I couldn't handle how shit it was. It was slow, buggy, ugly, and was missing all the improvements to the mechanics that gen 4 and later added.

Crystal Clear was tolerable, but only because it added a bunch of quality of life fixes and was essentially its own unique game rather than normal Crystal version.

This unironically, but with a twist.

Gold version has my hands glued to my GBC, you got to see how technology transitioned, and a lot of creativity was put into going forward into emerald and connecting to Stadium 2. That was peak for me.

At the same time it also allows me appreciate the DS era with all the polishing it did up to BW2.

Content wise DS era is best
Quality wise, that was gen2 era.

Dragon quest has a massive bag space and inventory, both gen 1 and 2 have a very reduced almost funy storage. The pc does little to aleviate the problem in both games and the gameboy was capable of more. Masutrash sucks at programming, he should have sticked to making music. Yet tajiri claims "he is better", so imagine if he is "better" then Im don't want to see the damned code of gen 1 and 2.
Other RPG also handle the "HM moves" better, by adding key items so you don't need to do repetitive tasks like cutting bushes over and over every time you need to pass them, or surf, etc.

Also pokemon copied a lot of crap from other games, and they got successful due to the super chibi and cute designs, while other franchises put plain demons and ghosts there and soccer moms would have burnt the game if they saw their son playing it.

I owned all three games growing up, and it's riddled with bugs:
>1 in 256 glitch
>Glitch that can make attacks miss due to typing that wouldn't normally miss
>Bide can hit pokemon using Dig or Fly
>Ultra Balls are worse than pokeballs in a lot of situations
>The Badge glitches
>Focus Energy and Dire Hit just don't not work, they actively hurt your crit rate
>Red bar glitch
>Fishing in statues
>Missingno/M and everything surrounding them
>Literally able to beat the game in under 2 minutes with a glitch
>Ghost is supposed to be super-effective VS psychic. It isn't.

These are the major ones. There's a ton of other glitches you can do because of how shit gen 1's code is including FREEZING THE GAME and CORRUPTING YOUR SAVE. Gen 3's remakes basically fixed all these issues while also adding Dark and Steel as well as Abilities, Natures, the more modern IV/EV system which is superior to the DV system, and more content to boot.

Tajiri wanted to make his own version of Dragon Quest that allowed Japanese kids living in cities to experience the fun of catching bugs and tadpoles in the countryside like he did as a kid. The effects of different abilities shouldn't even need any explanation as to why someone might want one over the other. I'm starting to question whether you've actually played Pokemon before. The battle frontier is the most overrated thing in the history of pokemon. There are exactly 2 worthwhile buildings and that's factory and tower. The rest are trash, considering ORAS already has a clone of the tower in the form of masion, the only real thing it's missing from emerald would be battle factory, but since pvp was at its peak on gen 6 thanks to the pss and new additions, its hardly missed

I'm 18 and started with HGSS. For the longest time, Gen 5 was my favourite. Currently, my favourite is Gen 2, and that probably won't change for a long time. In fact, I refuse to believe anything past Crystal is canon, not even the games I started with and have the most connection with. When I first played Gold in 2017, I was able to take off the rose-tinted glasses and look at things objectively, and it was then that I realised GS are the games closest to Tajiri's vision for the franchise, and Crystal is the highest quality game in the series, even after all these years. So no, it's not just nostalgia, I'm a clear example of that.

The sheer massive type imbalance with the Kanto region is made even worse than it originally was (half the dex is poison) with the addition of the dark-steel-fairy types to it. Fairy especially. Which unlike usually where it's a good offensive type with decent defensive capabilities (to the point of being broken) in a Kantomon-only setting... The fairy typing is pure hindrance and little more.
Basically LGPE is DP's "where's the fire types" meme but on crack.

Replaying Silver and having fun, but still looking on eBay for Heart Gold. Been investing in older games lately, so I'm stopping myself hacking my 3DS, because I know I'll never do it then. Replaying Black 2 which was my favourite for years and I played it for the first time when I was 17, I thought it was the peak, but when playing it again, I just felt like it was still very easy and there are so many Pokémon to catch, but the game only feels good around the Postgame and it's Gen 6 that was so bad and made me think about how there were a lot of Legendary events in B2's postgame that made all the future games feel so shit by comparison. Hoping Heart Gold is more fun. The visuals definitely peaked in those remakes and amount of content was at the highest.
