Basically you just catch the same shitmon 15 times and fill Pokedex requirements 15 times to unlock new regions to explore to repeat the same process again.
Afterwards you have quests, either evolution/item fetching/crafting/boss fights which help you rank up which will unlock more quests and more Pokemon to be seen. Will also activate events "story".
Basically this game is just a grindfest and you will have no chance of using any of your mons outside of NPC fights with other Pokemons who will always fight you by themselves.
