Arcanine yes, Rufflet prob not, I think they wouldve shown it along side Braviary like they did with Vulpix and Ninetales, Sandshrew and Sandslash and they showed the entire G-Zigzagoon line during their reveals

nah, it's obvious hey just needed one fly-ride pokemon in braviary for the trailer, one surf pokemon being red basclegion, and one land-ride pokemon being wyrdeer. all of those stem from past shitmons and were given new light. they threw in growlithe for a different audience. i am fully expecting a blue basclegion, hisui rufflet, and hisui arcanine

Why aren't Wyrdeer and Basculegion on this list, if other regional evos are? This autistically annoys me.

I expect there won't be too many of them in LA, probably less than ten. I also expect the climbing creature to be Hisuian Nuzleaf that has no evolution (just like there's no Hoennian Obstagoon, for example).

I also expect that Basculegion and Wyrdeer evolve from regular Basculin and Stantler (judging from design similarity), with some evo criteria that are exclusive to these games (so the only way to get them in future Gen IX will be to trade them via HOME, although later gens may somehow alter that, like with Milotic and Gen IV Eeveelutions).

We got the ancient power evolutions on Gen 4 so they can just do something similar I guess. Will be interesting to see if those Pokemon even require ancient power in Legends in the first place.

I feel like we'll get an arbok evolution to round out the original rocket trio. I can also see normal counterparts for the regional locked evolution. Probably not getting any gen 8 or 4 mons with frms

What regional formes do you guys like the most? I really like the ice ones and Marowak from Alola. Not played swooshie but I really like how meowth and purrzerker look so smug. The slowbro is pretty cool too.

The only thing I’m expecting is Hisuian Arcanine. I really don’t think Rufflet will have a new form, and while I’m less sure about there not being a blue Basculegion, I’m doubting that as well.

True, but I could see them giving some bullshit lore-related reasoning like “the warmer climate of the Hoenn region allowed Nuzleaf the environment necessary to evolve.” Similar, I guess, to how living in a harsher environment (or whatever the reasoning was) allows G-Linoone to evolve in Galar.

if they were to keep regular rufflet, that means rufflet would lose certain characteristics when evolving into hisuian braviary. that never happened with any of the past examples where there is an inconsistent design with new regionals evolviing from existing forms

Basculegion has traits from both Red Striped and Blue Striped. Makes more sense that Hisuian Basculin will have the same features.

Nothing that was part of the Sinnoh dex in Diamond & Pearl or Platinum will get a regional variant/evolution. We know from Growlithe that Pokémon that could be caught but didn't contribute to the regional dex are still on the table.

The only exceptions to this I can see are Spiritomb and legendary/mythical Pokémon as there can be narrative reasons for why they changed.

Nah. Based on those Hypno shirts a while back, Gamefreak is well aware of the reputation. I could see them pulling a 180 and making a regional Hypno which protects children in lore (ala Drampa), or even doubling down on the creepy factor and making them bridge trolls or something

You're mixing up your official terms and code here. Articuno is by all means a legendary and is referenced to as such in all official media. Sub-legendary is used in the code because that field is used when designating which mons are eligible in different formats.

Also plenty of Pokémon with gender differences have regional forms.
