Also the "dexcut" from gen3 was because there was no way to connect to GB or GBC with a GBA, and they at least took the chance to complettly revamp the way pokemon work with abilities, new ev systems, natures and countless other shit, to not make it another stallmeta like gen2.
Gen8 in comparison would have EASILY been able to simply connect to Pokemon bank, which should have made it to the switch instead of the reskin of bank that cost 4 times as much,and used the SAME system for the pokemon, yet they somehow didnt manage to include the old pokemon (or even moves), even after the DLC that almost costs as much as a second 3ds game
